The First International High end Forum on Green Plant Protection Technology Innovation
Strong agriculture relies on strong plant protection science support. After nearly 10 years of efforts, China's plant protection technology has gradually moved towards green, environmentally friendly, and safe. This is the information obtained by the reporter from the first International High end Forum on Green Plant Protection Technology Innovation (ICGPPI 2018) held in Boao, Hainan on May 11th. The first Green Plant Protection Forum is regarded as a milestone in the new era of green plant protection technology.

The forum is themed "Immune Regulation, Green Plant Protection, and Crop Health", with more than 80 special reports mainly focusing on the innovation of green plant protection technology and the forefront of crop health strategies, the innovation and application of plant immune regulators, the research and development, management, application status and development direction of green plant protection technology and green pesticides, innovation in plant immune activation and crop health, environmental policies and internationalization of the green pesticide industry under the implementation of new pesticide regulations, and the integrated development of plant immune agent innovation and crop health and ecological security. The report by heavyweight experts in the industry will present the current development status of green plant protection technology one by one.

Liu Xu, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, stated that the Chinese Academy of Engineering has organized a team of academicians and experts to provide technical consultation on the prevention and control of major diseases such as citrus huanglongbing, banana wilt, and betel nut yellowing in Hainan. Academician Song Bao'an has cooperated with Hainan Zhengye to build an academician workstation, carry out industrial development, application technology research, and talent cultivation of new immune regulation products, and achieved good results.
Chen Jian, Vice Chairman of the Guizhou Provincial Political Consultative Conference, stated that special research will be conducted on key and difficult issues in the field of plant protection both domestically and internationally. High tech will be fully utilized to improve plant protection efficiency, and the combination of scientific research results and the market will be emphasized to achieve effective market application.
Song Bao'an, academician of the CAE Member, president of Guizhou University and chairman of the forum, introduced that the forum has promoted in-depth cooperation and exchange between domestic and foreign agricultural plant protection industry, scientific and technological circles, government departments and users, fully demonstrated the hot areas of green plant protection technology innovation and the latest research results of related technologies, accelerated the innovation and application of green plant protection technology, and promoted the sustainable development of global pest control.

The forum held in Hainan is also quite meaningful. General Secretary Xi Jinping called for strengthening the construction of the Hainan base for scientific research and breeding in southern China, and creating a tropical modern agricultural base and a national tropical agricultural science center. Shi Yiyun, Vice Chairman of the Hainan Provincial Political Consultative Conference and Director of the Science and Technology Department, stated that Hainan has implemented a number of major scientific and technological projects to address major issues such as green plant protection. The local green plant protection projects in Hainan also have their own characteristics. For example, Zhengye's "Sea Island Su" is a new type of amino oligosaccharides product, which uses plant immune induction technology and has been extensively tested, demonstrated, and promoted.
More than 20 academicians and 60 well-known experts from home and abroad were invited to attend the conference, as well as over 700 representatives from industry university research systems across the country. The conference is hosted by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, organized by Guizhou University, the Pesticide Testing Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry (JAFC, USA), the Science and Technology Department of Hainan Province, the China Society of Plant Protection, the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, and the China Pesticide Industry Association.
